Rio to end Tony's bad run. |
|
|
|
| |
Tony Mallia, one time pupil of master reinsman Brian
Gath, has a first hand knowledge of the roller-coaster
life of horse racing.
Rio Dollar showed tremendous promise as a two-year-old
last season, winning at Terang as his first start.
He held his form for a number of starts before being
spelled.
A false start at Kilmore had the field travel for
a lap before being pulled up. The race was run again
but unfortanly Rio would be beaten by the favorite.
A disappointed Mallia fired in a most unusual protest
against the starter for being incompetent. To encourage
the stewards to call an no race. Stewards didn't see
it Mallia's way.
